Every dollar is important to our goal of buying a bigger boat.
Help the Kauai Sea Scouts get a new ship. Our beloved ship Decisive is aging and has been outgrown. We had found a new boat that will berth 30 scouts, but the steel hulled, 60 foot E Sea Rider had some issues. We have scouted out several new options. Our latest focus is a Lancer 65 Motorsailer. This boat checks all the boxes – it has the necessary interior volume for housing scouts, a comfortable salon and galley, twin diesel engines and a functional sailing rig. She was built in Southern California in the early 1980's. We are still moving forward with fundraising as things fall into place and we need your help.
Every dollar will help purchase and outfit a ship that will last generations of Sea Scouts. This program creates responsible leaders, teaches seamanship, creates freindships and gives direction to Kauai youth.
Hawaii Youth Maritime Programs is an IRS designated charity (501(c)3) and donations may be tax deductible.
Why should you donate?
Help our scouts become watermen. We have had several Sea Scouts who have lived in Hawaii their entire lives and never been on a boat.
As more kids are involved with the program, more people are educated about ocean sustainability.
Our program helps teenagers looking for direction. Our Sea Scouts have gone on to careers in the Coast Guard, Marine Biology, NOAA Research Vessels and have attended California Maritime Academy.
Beyond seamanship, our crews learn valuable life skills.
A donation invests in the youth of Kauai for generations to come as this boat will last for decades.
Remember when you were a kid? Would you have loved to be a Sea Scout? Your donation gives this opportunity to kids on Kauai now and in the future.
